Please note that the handwritten notations on the Court's Dockets posted on this website are made by Court staff in order to provide updated information on the status of matters fixed before the Court.  This information is obtained from a number of different sources.  If the handwritten notation on the Docket appears to be incorrect, please contact the Court staff immediately at (337) 269-5729.

    Lafayette Parish:

On rule days in Lafayette Parish (usually on Thursdays), the Court conducts early pre-trial confernces at 9:00 a.m. in Chambers on the fourth floor of the Lafayette Parish Courthouse. These conferences are conducted on a first come first served basis.  The Clerk sets forty (40) matters on rule days.  Fridays may be used as a spill over day depending upon the availability of the Judge, litigants and attorneys.

Merits weeks are set in Lafayette Parish.  The Clerk sets twenty (20) matters on these weeks.  All litigants and attorneys shall be present in Court on Monday morning at 10:00 a.m. for pre-trial conferences and so that cases can be put in order to try during that week.  Attorneys and litigants from out of town may participate in pre-trial conferences by telephone by obtaining Court permission prior to the first day of the merits week.

    Acadia and Vermilion Parishes:

Twenty (20) matters, both rules and merits, are set on each scheduled date.  Duty weeks in Acadia and Vermilion will be used as dates to finish trials or for special fixings at the Court's discretion.  No matters shall be fixed on open days on Duty weeks except by order of the Judge in Division "H".
