Judge Frederick was elected District Judge for the 15th Judicial District Court, Division C on December 5, 2020 and took office on January 1, 2021. As he is seated in Vermilion Parish, his office is located in Abbeville, but he also serves Lafayette and Acadia Parishes, on a rotating basis. His current term expires on December 31, 2026.
Judge Frederick received his Juris Doctorate from the Paul M Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University in 1989. He served as law clerk for the Honorable Durwood W. Conque from 1989 until 1991 when he entered into the private practice of law in Abbeville, Louisiana. He maintained a solo practice in Abbeville until his appointment as Judicial Commissioner in June 2002. From March 1991 until October 2001, he served as staff attorney with the 15th Judicial District Court’s Indigent Defender’s Office, serving Vermilion Parish. From October 2001 until his appointment in 2002, he served as an assistant District Attorney in Lafayette Parish. From June 2002 until May 2020 he served as the Judicial Commissioner for the 15th Judicial District Court, serving Vermilion, Lafayette, and Acadia parishes.
Judge Frederick is a graduate of Abbeville High School and the University of Southwestern Louisiana (currently the University of Louisiana). He is married to the former Stacey Longman and has two children, Thomas Jr. and Paige, one daughter-in-law, the former Caitlyn Taron, one son-in-law, Sean Gossen, and four grandchildren, Thomas III (Tripp) and Landon and Camille Frederick and Alexandra Gossen.
